Three-part ratios and finding the total from one share
Word problems
Real-life contexts — read carefully and identify the calculation needed

Two methods

Given the total: divide total by sum of parts to find one unit, then multiply each part.

Given one share: use that share to find one unit, then find the other share and total.

Ratio \(2:7\), smaller share is £24 → one part = \(£24\div2=£12\) → larger = \(7\times£12=£84\) → total = \(£108\)
