Rule

Look at the digit after the last decimal place you want to keep.

If it is 5 or more → round up.   If it is 4 or less → round down (keep as is).

\(3.746\) to 2 d.p.: look at 3rd decimal (6) → ≥5 → round up → \(3.75\)

\(0.8341\) to 3 d.p.: look at 4th decimal (1) → <5 → round down → \(0.834\)
