Challenge questions
Find two missing values, convert then simplify, or order a mix of forms
Word problems
Real-life contexts — identify whether to give improper or mixed number form
Key methods
Improper \(\to\) Mixed: divide numerator by denominator. Quotient = whole, remainder = new numerator.
\(\dfrac{11}{4}\): \(11\div4=2\) remainder \(3\) \(\to\) \(2\,\dfrac{3}{4}\)
Mixed \(\to\) Improper: whole \(\times\) denominator + numerator, keep denominator.
\(3\,\dfrac{2}{5}\): \(3\times5+2=17\) \(\to\) \(\dfrac{17}{5}\)
